*Majors are required to take three of the four introductory-level courses (HIST 1014, HIST 1024, HIST 1154, HIST 1164).
**At least one upper-level course (2000-level or higher) in each of the following fields is required:
- U.S.
- Modern European
- Pre-Modern
- Non-Western
At least three of the seven history electives must be at or above the 3000-level
Advice to Students:
Carefully examine the pre-requisites necessary for courses and try to take those pre-requisites early in your college career. This will allow you much greater flexibility in scheduling upper-level courses later on.

All students wishing to pursue the Secondary Education minor that leads to certification for 8-12 teaching in the discipline of history should meet with an education faculty member as soon as possible for advice on course selection and to review eligibility criteria for entry into the Education program.
