Requirements

Eligibility

In order to study abroad at Transylvania, a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Minimum of 2.5 overall GPA (many programs require a 3.0)
Students with a 2.0-2.5 may still apply to short term abroad programs, but must meet with the director of global and intercultural engagement prior to applying.
  2. Good standing with the Dean of Students office regarding disciplinary and/or judicial status
  3. For non-semester study abroad, students must have completed one full semester of university study. For semester study abroad, students must have completed at least two semesters of university study, and return for final academic year at Transylvania

Students who wish to go abroad should demonstrate evidence of maturity, responsibility and preparation for education abroad and show intellectual curiosity, academic rationale and social flexibility.

Important: certain programs will have their own specific requirements (i.e. prerequisites, language proficiency, etc.) that students will need to meet in order to participate.

Applications and Deadlines

Applications

To participate in a education abroad experience, students must apply both with Transylvania and with their provider program.  The only exceptions to this rule are for May term travel courses and the Transylvania in Ireland program, where students only apply through Transylvania.
