Spanish Major

Transylvania University’s Spanish Language and Literature major will make sure you master Spanish grammar and conversation while immersing you in the culture and history of Spain and Latin America. Our location in Lexington, Kentucky, gives you plenty of opportunities to use the language in internships and community engagement.

Ranked in the top 1% nationwide for Most Focused—Romance Languages by College FactualStudy and travel abroad strengthen students' cultural understanding and language skills. Through an arrangement with other universities, Transy students can spend a term or a year in Spain or Mexico. May term, a one-month term during which Transylvania students take one course, also offers concentrated time for study abroad. Recent May term destinations include Spain, Ecuador, and Costa Rica.

Some students add a second major to Spanish to be competitive in the job market and open their possibilities up to international work in their fields. Transy will work with you to ensure you’re prepared to succeed in whatever path you choose to take.
