Community and alumni partners show support for 2022 PumpkinMania

The annual PumpkinMania display glows in the night.

Three local businesses are among the community partners stepping up to make this year’s PumpkinMania possible. Joining title sponsor White, Greer & Maggard Orthodontics and silver sponsor BimGroup are bronze supporters Alpha Financial Partners, Becker Law Office and Commonwealth Credit Union.

Alpha Financial Partners

Alpha Financial Partners’ commitment to its clients and community is reflected by the partners’ dedication to service, as exemplified by their extensive work with several local nonprofit organizations, as well as their involvement in assisting those impacted by the recent flooding in Eastern Kentucky.

However, for co-founder and CCO Greg Turcotte, PumpkinMania isn’t just a way to get involved in the local community; it’s also personal.

A 2009 Transylvania University graduate, Turcotte has been heavily involved with the university’s Young Alumni Council, both as a member from 2013-19 and as TUYAC’s president from 2016-17. In this capacity, he was involved in launching the university’s Alumni Fall Festival, which is part of PumpkinMania this year.

This is the first year for the full-service, Lexington-based financial advisory firm to sponsor PumpkinMania, and Turcotte looks forward to this new way of participating in the festivities.

“Transy is the location, but [PumpkinMania] is very much a community event. They open up the doors and let anyone who wants to be a part of it come and enjoy it,” he noted. “The fact that the community supports it is remarkable and a testament to Transy and its place in the community.”

The family atmosphere of PumpkinMania is the perfect fit for an organization that prides itself on exemplifying the values of honesty, integrity and transparency. Alpha Financial Partners seeks to provide stability for clients regardless of the current economic climate. “We want to be there for our clients in good times and bad,” Turcotte said. “They are the reason why we exist.”

Becker Law Office

Becker Law Office is a staple of the Lexington community. The firm’s Lexington-area personal injury lawyers have more than three decades of experience representing clients in matters ranging from vehicular accidents to medical malpractice.

This emphasis on ensuring their clients’ well-being extends to widespread civic involvement to provide help and resources to people with need in the community. Staff members regularly donate their time and energy to support several local causes, and this year, Becker Law is contributing to Transylvania as a first-time bronze-level PumpkinMania sponsor.

“We love finding opportunities in the community to reach out and meet the people that make Lexington so special,” said Becker attorney Kennedy Slusher.

Becker Law Office chose their involvement with PumpkinMania due to their employee Sarah Green, a 2017 Transy graduate.

The PumpkinMania Festival “allows the campus and students to be active participants in their local community,” Slusher said. “It also provides a fun and safe space for locals to celebrate Halloween.”

Commonwealth Credit Union

Repeat PumpkinMania sponsor Commonwealth Credit Union is likewise committed to Kentucky. Founded in 1951, this regional credit union currently serves over 117,000 members with multiple branches located across central Kentucky and the Louisville metro area and is regularly named one of the “Best Places to Work in Kentucky.”

As a member-owned institution, Commonwealth Credit Union takes pride in its local communities and is committed to serving and enriching them through regional philanthropy.

As part of their community give back mission statement, Commonwealth Credit Union focuses on serving those who serve to enrich Kentucky communities by helping them learn, thrive and grow. This emphasis makes Commonwealth Credit Union an ideal partner for Transylvania’s PumpkinMania. Commonwealth Credit Union has been involved with PumpkinMania since their initial sponsorship in 2018.

“We live by our motto of bettering lives through our passion to serve, and giving back is a cornerstone of who we are,” said Community Relations Representative Senior Kristie Jones. “We believe the best way to serve a community is through being active, present and involved. PumpkinMania gives us another opportunity for us to help better lives in the communities we call home. We are excited to be part of this great event and can’t wait to see everybody out there!”

Transylvania would like to thank all three sponsors for their support of this beloved annual campus and community tradition.
