On this day, 241 years ago, the Virginia State Legislature chartered the first institution of higher learning west of the Allegheny Mountains — what is today known as Transylvania University.
With the success of our Healthy at Transy protocols and the efficiency of Kentucky’s vaccine rollout, most of our employees and many of our students have been vaccinated. As a result, we can more confidently plan what our campus experience will look like.
Transylvania is committed to creating and maintaining an equitable and inclusive campus community that is free from harassment and discrimination for everyone.
At Transylvania, we prepare our students to be agents of creativity, to be curious and resilient, and to pass on the light to those who come behind them.
Transylvania University’s Brien Lewis recently joined Bill Goodman, host of the Think Humanities podcast, to discuss Lewis’ plans for Kentucky’s first university.
