KCTCS Transfer Pathways — A Seamless Next Step

If you’re completing or have earned an Associate in Arts degree from a Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) school with a GPA of at least 2.0, your path to Transy is already underway.

Through our KCTCS Transfer Pathways, you can move directly into bachelor’s programs such as business administration or health and exercise science. Your associate degree covers three of Transy’s five general-education areas — and in many cases, you can finish your bachelor’s after as few as 72 credit hours (18 Transy units).

Our transfer adviser will help you personalize your plan, maximize your credits and make your transition smooth from day one.

How to Apply as a Transfer Student

Application Steps

To apply as a transfer student, submit the following:

  • The Transylvania University Application (online)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
  • A final high school transcript or GED if required
  • A Statement of Good Standing from each previous institution
  • Optional: ACT or SAT scores — Transy accepts both for admission and scholarship consideration but may request them if needed

Application Deadlines

  • Fall Term (August start): Priority deadline Aug. 16
  • Winter Term (January start): Deadline Dec. 1

Transfer applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged — especially for scholarship and housing consideration.

Transferring Credits Made Easy

We know how much work you’ve already done — and we want every credit to count.

  • Transy evaluates transfer credits through the Transfer Evaluation System (TES).
  • For students in KCTCS pathways, completed credits often fulfill general-education requirements, helping you stay on track for graduation.
  • The Office of the Registrar reviews course equivalencies and ensures a smooth transfer.
  • One Transy unit equals four semester hours, so your transfer credits will be mapped accordingly.

Your admissions counselor or registrar will guide you step by step through credit evaluation so there are no surprises when you enroll.

Scholarships and Financial Aid for Transfer Students

We believe in rewarding hard work and helping make your education affordable.

  • Transfer students entering with first-year standing are eligible for first-year scholarships; those entering with sophomore or higher standing qualify for transfer awards.
  • To be considered for need-based financial aid, transfer students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Transylvania’s FAFSA code: 001987

Visit our Financial Aid Office to explore scholarships, grants and work-study opportunities.

Tip: Apply early for maximum scholarship consideration and priority financial-aid review.

Why Transy Works for Transfer Students
