Creative Writing

The goal of the creative writing program is to show that imagination is a necessary and vital tool to take into the real world.

We offer introductory and advanced workshops in the standard creative genres—poetry, fiction and non-fiction—each exposing you to a variety of writing styles and forms. We also offer courses across disciplines—such as writing, rhetoric and communication; theater; and literary translation.

Several May term courses and special topics courses are also designed around creative writing. Would you like to write in Ireland? Make a pilgrimage to a noted writer’s home? Would you like to work with student writers at other colleges in the region? These are the kinds of incredible opportunities we offer.
