Acclaimed musician Rhiannon Giddens visited Transylvania on Thursday for a performance and conversations with students and others.
Transylvania professor Scott Whiddon teamed up with UK music professor Kevin Holm-Hudson and EKU communication professor Jim Gleason to create “Songs from Quarantine,” a two-volume album of instrumental music responding to our current climate.
Thanks to the prompting and examples set by his fellow students — in addition to a music class, access to the school’s recording technology and learning the guitar — senior Austin Lamb recorded an EP of four original songs, which have been streamed nearly 3,000 times on Spotify, Apple Music and elsewhere.
