Who gets financial aid?

There's no such thing as a "typical" Transy student. Our students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, and they're all eligible for financial aid. Take a look at some examples of past financial aid award packages:

 

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is from Kentucky and comes from a single-parent home with an income of $20,941 per year. Her family has no assets, and her FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $10. She had been a good student in high school, but even with scholarships, she was still unsure she would be able to afford Transylvania. Kaitlyn decided to apply anyway.

Conner

Conner is from Kentucky, and his family has an income of $71,386 per year. He had saved some money from summer jobs, and his parents have $15,000 in assets. Conner's FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $7,158. He got a 31 on his ACT and carried a 4.0 GPA in high school, and decided Transy was the right school for him.

Max

Max's family is from Kentucky and has an income of $108,468 per year with $12,000 in assets. His FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $23,044. He got pretty good grades in high school, but he wasn't a great test taker and decided not to send in his ACT scores, knowing Transylvania considers more than just the ACT when considering your application.

Rachel

Rachel is from West Virginia, where her family has an income of $193,648 per year, to go along with $23,500 in assets. Her FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $47,388. She was an exceptional high school student, with a high GPA and a 32 on her ACT. She was invited to Transy's Premier Scholarship Day, where she won a Trustees Scholarship.
