Who gets financial aid?

There's no such thing as a "typical" Transy student. Our students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, and they're all eligible for financial aid. Take a look at some examples of past financial aid award packages:

 

Jonah

Jonah is from Kentucky and comes from a single-parent home with an income of $29,630 per year. His family has no assets, and his FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $0. He had been a good student in high school, but even with scholarships, he was still unsure he would be able to afford Transylvania. Jonah decided to apply anyway.

Kyra

Kyra is from Kentucky, and her family has an income of $74,466 per year. She had saved some money from summer jobs, and her parents have $3,500 in assets. Kyra's FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $7,812. She got a 31 on her ACT and carried a 4.0 GPA in high school, and decided Transy was the right school for her.

Isabelle

Isabelle's family is from Kentucky and has an income of $116,369 per year with $22,000 in assets. Her FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $21,003. She got pretty good grades in high school, but she wasn't a great test taker, so she chose to go test optional, knowing Transylvania considers more than just the ACT when considering your application.

Brandon

Brandon is from Tennessee, where his family has an income of $163,864 per year, to go along with $66,000 in assets. His FAFSA resulted in an Expected Family Contribution of $45,862. He was an exceptional high school student, with a high GPA and a 32 on his ACT. He was invited to Transy's Premier Scholarship Day, where he won a Trustees Scholarship.
