Transylvania University Theater opens season with “Macbeth”

LEXINGTON, Ky.—“The Tragedy of Macbeth” by William Shakespeare opens Thursday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Transylvania University’s Lucille C. Little Theater.

The Shakespeare classic tells the haunting story of Macbeth’s rise to power through murder and intimidation and his eventual fall from grace. Members of the audience are certain to be intrigued by the Transylvania University Theater rendition of one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, directed by drama professor Tim Soulis.

“Our production is edgy with danger, exciting with sword fights and hypnotic with incantatory language,” said Soulis. “The whole experience is thrilling, evocative and haunting.”

The play runs Nov. 1 and 2 and Nov. 8-10 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 3 and 4 at 2 p.m. All performances are in the Lucille C. Little Theater. Tickets are $10 and may be reserved by calling the box office at (859) 281-3621 from 1:30-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. For more information, contact Tim Soulis at (859) 233-8163 or tsoulis@transy.edu.
