Transferring from Another College or University
Application Deadlines
- Fall 2023 (starting in August 2023): July 1, 2023
- Winter 2024 (starting in January 2024): December 1, 2023
Transylvania University welcomes applications from students who have previously or are currently enrolled in another college or university and received credit for coursework.
This does not apply to high school students who have taken college courses while enrolled in high school.

Admissions application
Transfer students should apply online. For help filling out the application, contact Julie Sams at jsams@transy.edu.
Admissions essay
You should include with your application an essay providing the admissions committee insight into you and what you will bring to the Transylvania community. Please limit the essay to 1–2 typed, double-spaced pages.
To submit the essay:
a) If you apply using the Common Application, instructions are provided for uploading the essay file.
b) If you complete the Printable Application, submit the printed essay with the application form.
Final, official high school transcript
A high school transcript can be requested from the school’s registrar and sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
Official college transcripts
Applicants should submit transcripts from all colleges attended. College transcripts issued to the student for delivery are not considered official.
Official ACT and/or SAT scores (optional)
Transylvania University accepts both the ACT and SAT for admission and scholarship consideration. Score reports can be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from ACT and/or SAT. Scores appearing on official high school transcripts will also be accepted.
Transylvania reserves the right to request test scores at any point in the admissions process.
Letter of recommendation
The letter should be written by an individual closely acquainted with your academic work. We prefer that the letter of recommendation come from a college instructor or advisor who has taught you in the past two years.
a) If you use the online Common Application, recommenders should complete the Instructor’s Evaluation and Recommendation and mail it to the Office of Admissions.
b) If you have applied using the Printable Application, your teacher can complete the Teacher’s Evaluation and Recommendation and mail it directly to the Office of Admissions.
Statement of Good Standing
Transfer students must have completed A Statement of Good Standing for each institution that they have previously attended. For questions contact admissions@transy.edu.

Scholarship Awards
Transfer students who will enroll at Transy with First Year standing (based on credits that transfer) are eligible for the First Year Scholarship amounts.
Transfer students who will enroll at Transy with Sophomore (or higher) standing are eligible for these awards.
