A raging storm whips up revenge, romance, romps and ruses when it hits the stage in this mystical fantasy. Prospera finally has the chance to use her magical powers to enact revenge. Does she use the enchanted island she shipwrecked on years ago to fuel her fury, or can she conjure a path to reconciliation? Free tickets will be available to the public two weeks before opening.

Transy Theater is hosting this year’s Kentucky Theater Association’s Central Region High School Play Festival. Welcoming theater students from all over our local region, one school will move on to the state’s final competition where the winner will perform at the Southeastern Theater Conference, the biggest theater conference in the country.

Pastor Paul built a modest storefront into a congregation of thousands. Today, Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief. A big-little play about faith in America — and the trouble with changing your mind. Featuring Director of the Theater Program Tosha Fowler in the cast. Dr. Rachel Shteir on Betty Friedan, Lillian Hellman and Skepticism

Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. — Female Skeptics: The Problem with Betty Friedan

In celebration of Dr. Shteir’s newest publication, “Betty Friedan: Magnificent Disruptor,” she will be visiting Transy to discuss Friedan and Hellman through the lens of female skeptics. Shteir is the author of three previous books: “Striptease: The Untold History of the Girlie Show”; “Gypsy: The Art of the Tease”; and “The Steal: A Cultural History of Shoplifting.” “Striptease” won the George Freedley Memorial Award and was a “San Francisco Chronicle” Lit Pick. Rachel’s essays and reviews have appeared in many publications, including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. She is also the founder and head of the Dramaturgy/Criticism Program at the Theatre School at DePaul University.  Free tickets will be available to the public two weeks before opening.

Lillian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour”

In honor of Women’s History Month, Transy Theater presents Hellman’s controversial 1934 theatrical debut which erupted on Broadway but was shut down in cities including Boston, Chicago and London. When an unruly student weaponizes fear and misinformation, her schoolteachers Karen and Martha must fight to save their all-girls boarding school and themselves. A riveting exploration of shame, survival and the questions we ask (or reject) to seek truth. Free tickets will be available to the public two weeks before opening.
