Transylvania professor wins Fulbright to carve coffee spoons in Romania
Transylvania University art professor Kurt Gohde has received a Fulbright award to hand-carve a series of wooden coffee spoons in Romania’s Transylvania region. The project will give people a chance to “have coffee with” notable figures from the country’s cultural past.

10th annual Together for Transy sets fundraising record
Transylvania University raised just over $600,000 during its 10th annual Together for Transy day of giving — a record for the event. The March 24 fundraiser drew 1,161 donors supporting current Pioneers, with gifts received from all 50 states that unlocked $15,000 through the On the Map Challenge.
Alumni, parents, trustees and friends of the university stepped up to contribute $315,450 in challenge dollars. Specifically, the New Donor Challenge surpassed its goal with 220 first-time supporters unlocking an $11,000 gift. The Class of 2028 won the Battle of the Classes with 35 sophomores donating — and men’s lacrosse led all athletic teams with $15,390, earning a $6,000 match. A total of 121 current students participated, exceeding the goal of 50 and unlocking another $5,000 in challenge funds.
