May Term 2023

Transylvania students look forward to the four-week May term that caps off each school year. That’s when Pioneers focus the entire time on one class, often involving international travel and two professors who bring together their fields of study in interesting ways — like a course in the Netherlands combining exercise science with public policy (there’s a lot of bike riding). This past May term saw an array of intriguing offerings, including Magic in Antiquity, Theater in Deutschland, Nanoscience and What Does Fido Know? Alumni may remember these springtime classes as “Play Term,” but the way they’re structured makes them more than just fun: They’re almost guaranteed to spark some creative thinking.
