The magic of Transylvania is very much its professors.

We have a really excellent faculty at Transylvania. 98% of the faculty hold the highest degree their field. All of your classes are going to be taught by faculty members, be that a lab section, be that a recitation section, always faculty.

I know that my professors see me as an individual instead of just another number in class.

It’s more than just the numbers or the ratios. I think it’s the attitude or the approach of the faculty. They really want to be here at an institution like this because they want to teach.

So I definitely have felt like gotten a personalized educational experience here at Transy.

There is a lot of this kind of collaboration that happens between professors and and students. Some of it is formal, and some of it is informal. Being in a small school fosters these kinds of collaboration because you know each other.

In terms of mentors at Transy, I feel like I have a million.

Faculty also supports students by connecting them to internship opportunities or to resources on campus that can help them find studies skills support that they need, research opportunities mentoring from alumni and so on.

You have many opportunities to participate in research. You walk into classroom, you’re already participating in research in my labs. You’re going to ask your own questions. You’re going to design those studies and collect that data.

Research can start as soon as you finish your freshman year. We have a lot of grant opportunities that you can receive for summer research.

I bring speakers and artists and performers of all kinds to campus, give students and faculty and their larger community exposure to people who are doing really fascinating work.

Our faculty are passionate. That’s why they’re here. They’re passionate about the liberal arts. They’re passionate about working with students, and they’re here to make a community.
