A Thanksgiving message from Interim President Williams

Transylvania University

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, it is an appropriate time to reflect on the many things for which we are grateful. I start by saying thanks to all of you — students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends — who have made this fall such a wonderful and inspiring time at Transylvania! Your generous welcome of me and Lucy back into the Lexington and Transy communities has been humbling.

I am grateful for our students as you inspire and challenge us with your enthusiasm for learning and involvement in multiple co-curricular engagements such as athletics, Greek events, arts, music and theater, to name just a few. Your intense dedication and support of each other as you grow on campus is truly exciting!

I am grateful for our faculty. Through your various activities, I know you care deeply about our students and their progress toward becoming excellent citizens of the world, grounded in the liberal arts. Your achievements in education, service and scholarly activities contribute to the campus and the local, national and international reputation of Transylvania.

I am grateful for our staff members. We depend on you in so many ways to support the breadth of programming by keeping things up and running across the university on a daily basis. Your commitment to our school mission, vision and values is deeply appreciated. We can’t do what we do without you!

I am grateful for all those alumni and friends who support and promote Transylvania in myriad ways. I have had the privilege to renew old acquaintances and meet so many new TU alums in my various visits around the region. The work you do and the networks you represent are truly remarkable. You are generous donors of your time, talent and treasure. Thank you for your investment in the future of Transy!

Finally, I am grateful for the families and friends who encourage our students and support us all in so many ways. Your presence at games, performances and more underscores your active engagement as steadfast supporters of your child’s collegiate growth experience.

So, I offer my deepest appreciation for each of you this Thanksgiving season and give thanks for our vibrant Transy community.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
