Transy tradition helps new students meet and greet classmates

Among the traditions Transylvania’s first-year students share with generations of classes before them is taking a class photo on the steps of Old Morrison and introducing themselves to classmates the first weekend on campus.

“The Greet Line is an annual Transy tradition that we do with the first-years. Each year we have them get in some big space where every student says ‘hi’ — either through a handshake, high-five, fist bump — to each person of their class,” explained senior Diaka Savane, one of the First Engagements program coordinators.

The tradition also makes current students working with the newest Pioneers reflect on their time at Transylvania.

“Seeing the current first-years take that photo, it’s brought back a lot of memories from the first year, and it’s honestly made me think about how I’ve grown as a person over the last three years at Transy,” said senior Jordan Hancock.
