As the National Candidate Reply Date approaches, Transylvania University is hard at work finalizing its Class of 2023. Students who submit their $250 deposit by May 1 will save their spot alongside other exciting and talented incoming first-year students who have chosen Transy to prepare them for a fulfilling life and career.

The Class of 2023 is already shaping up to be a diverse group with a wide range of academic and extracurricular interests. Students represent 15 states and five countries, and their most popular major interests include pre-med, psychology, business administration and exercise science. They will be greeted on campus in the fall by professors who will work closely with them to find their calling and give them the tools to succeed in whatever field they choose.

“I had no idea what I wanted to major in—I was thinking physics, anthropology or maybe something totally different, like psychology,” reflects Moira Hedrick ’20 who settled on an international affairs major. “Transy had all of that here. It has such a wide variety of opportunities.” She is currently applying for internships in international communications and recently won the Juhe Chinese Composition Competition.

First-year students get the same research, community engagement and leadership opportunities as their upperclass counterparts, and many of them discover passions they never knew they had through student organizations and in the broad liberal arts curriculum. From day one in First Engagements, they learn to write and think critically, and they make lasting friendships that carry throughout their four years at Transy and beyond.

“Transy is fertile soil for people who really want to make an impact and do something about the problems they see—whether on campus or off,” says Seth Wyatt, who is a First Engagements Scholar and president of Transy Interfaith Alliance as a sophomore. “I have countless friends from my sophomore class who are in leadership positions because they came in and they saw what they could get passionate about and involved in, and they did. And now they’re deeply involved.”

And it all starts with a simple deposit. Make yours by May 1 and see for yourself how Transy can help you stand out to graduate schools, launch your career and prepare you for success.
