1950s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rollin Russell \u201958<\/strong>, Asheville, North Carolina, published a book, \u201cPulling Back the Curtain: A Memoir of Christian Ministry<\/a>.\u201d He writes of his pastoral journey that spanned the eras of civil rights, the equal rights movement, two anti-war movements, the gay rights movement and ecological movement, each of which brought turmoil to churches and society. In every phase his efforts to further unity are emphasized. This memoir is an effort to pull back the curtain on pastoral ministry during that era and offer theological, ethical and pastoral perspectives on that pilgrimage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1960s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pete McDevitt \u201969<\/strong>, Lake Placid, Florida, has been reappointed to the Sebring (Florida) Airport Authority to another four-year term. Tenants of the airport include Technam Aviation, Lockwood Aviation, Sebring International Raceway and DUC Propellers. The airport contributes nearly a billion dollars a year in economic benefit to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Neske \u201969<\/strong>, Sierra Vista, Arizona, celebrated his 10th year as a Catholic priest and was recently appointed to serve as parish administrator for Sacred Heart Parish in Tombstone, Arizona.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1970s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Laura Sutton Candris \u201975<\/strong>, Naples, Florida, published her memoir, \u201cGreek by Osmosis: My Life on a Small Greek Island (with Mama Kiki’s Recipes)<\/a>.\u201d Just 10 days after publication, her book hit No. 1 bestseller in Cyclades Travel Guides on Amazon. It was also \u201cBook of the Week\u201d in the Pappas Press newsletter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deborah Clubb \u201976<\/strong>, Memphis, Tennessee, received the Advocacy and Empowerment Award by the YWCA of Greater Memphis and was honored with a S.O. What! Award for resilience and perseverance in women\u2019s rights and journalism by the S.O. What! Foundation. In March, as a co-founder of Memphis Women of Achievement, Deborah organized the 40th annual WA awards celebration, which, since 1984, has honored, documented and archived 298 individuals and three groups for history-making leadership in Memphis, Shelby County and beyond. She edited a fourth volume of WA essays, published for the 40th anniversary of the Mid-South\u2019s premier commemoration of Women\u2019s History Month. All essays and portraits and the Memphis Women\u2019s Legacy Trail guide are at womenofachievement.org. Deborah became founding executive director of the Memphis Area Women\u2019s Council in 2004 after 25 years with The Commercial Appeal newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cecilia Woloch \u201978<\/strong>, Los Angeles, an award-winning published poet and writer, was in Greece this April on a Fulbright Inter-Country Award and delivered the keynote lecture for the annual Hellenic Association of American Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill McCann \u201979<\/strong>, Winchester, Kentucky, wrote “Which Side Are You On? A One-act Play with Music,” winner of the international One-Act Play Contest of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. On Nov. 8, 2025, the play was given its premiere performance at the Palace Theatre in Frostburg. Later that same month, the play won the Kentucky Theatre Association’s Roots of the Bluegrass One-Act Play Division. Additionally, McCann’s play “Bada Bing, Bada Boom” took third place in the full-length play division. He has been a member of the Dramatists Guild of America since 2012.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1980s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Robert Mucci \u201981<\/strong>, Lexington, published a book, \u201cAhead of the Pack: Garvice Kincaid and His Empire: A Southern Saga<\/a>.\u201d It tells the story of Lexington businessman Garvice Delmar Kincaid, who turned $1,500 into a $500 million empire over a 40-year period. Robert was introduced to the Kincaid organization by a relative and worked there during college. His extensive knowledge of the company and his long association with many of its former employees provide a remarkable amount of personal information about Garvice Kincaid and the various individuals who were important participants in the building of his empire and later in its destruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tisa Mason \u201983, <\/strong>Hays, Kansas, president of Fort Hays State University, was recognized with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators IV-West President\u2019s Award in October in St. Louis. The honor recognizes a university president who has advanced the quality of student life on campus by supporting student affairs staff and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janis Stivers Nunnally \u201983<\/strong>, Cookeville, Tennessee, was recognized as the 2026 National Art Education Association Middle Level Arts Educator of the Year. She is also a graduate of the Tennessee Tech School of Art, Craft, and Design, and works for Putnam County Schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liz Phearson Fulkerson \u201984<\/strong>, Lexington, is well settled into retirement, enjoying volunteering, her favorite being Old Friends Farm in Georgetown. She serves as treasurer of Chapter AO of P. E.O., Kentucky, as well as treasurer for the 2027 convention. Liz is also taking several courses through OLLI (Osher Lifelong  Learning Institute). She enjoys spending time with her grandson, with a trip planned to Disney in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benham Sims \u201985<\/strong>, Louisville, Kentucky, has been appointed to the Police Civilian Review and Accountability Board by Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angela Ray \u201986<\/strong>, Skokie, Illinois, represented Transylvania at the inauguration of Michael J. Sosulski as the 15th president of Lake Forest College on April 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bettina Rice \u201986<\/strong>, Lexington, has retired after 31 years in information technology management. She enjoys traveling with her husband Steve and dog Bear and spending quality time with family. She continues to stay in touch with Transy friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gwen Williamson Mathews \u201988<\/strong>, Lexington, a realtor with Bluegrass Sotheby\u2019s, was recognized in the 2026 RealTrends Verified rankings of top real estate professionals in America.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

1990s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

William Fleming \u201990<\/strong>, Louisville, Kentucky, was recognized at the Steven G. Avey Award Reception of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy 2026 conference. Individuals at this conference are recognized for sustained leadership in managed care pharmacy. William\u2019s contributions reflect the commitment and service that strengthen the profession and the organization. Recognition at this level highlights the long-term work that supports AMCP’s mission and members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rena Hallam \u201990<\/strong>, Newark, Delaware, a professor of human development and family sciences, has been named the new dean of the University of Delaware\u2019s College of Education and Human Development. She has served as interim dean since August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Chaffin \u201991<\/strong>, Lexington, is the new vice president, commercial lending officer of Central Bank. With over 25 years of banking experience and a deep commitment to community service, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Central Bank team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Damon Preston \u201991<\/strong>, Georgetown, Kentucky, serves as public advocate and has announced his upcoming retirement as head of the public defenders\u2019 office, following 29 years of service to the state of Kentucky. Preston was appointed to a four-year term as public advocate by Gov. Matt Bevin in 2017 and reappointed by Gov. Andy Beshear in 2021. In his announcement, Preston said he will continue to serve until Beshear appoints the next public advocate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jill Stratton \u201991<\/strong>, Nashville, Tennessee, represented Transylvania at the inauguration of Shannon B. Lundeen as the 25th president of Stephens College on March 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sawsan Jreisat \u201993<\/strong>, Lexington, has retired from Fayette County Public Schools, where she has served as a school psychologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott Kreutzer \u201993<\/strong>, Bristol, Virginia, was appointed the new chairman of the Metallurgical Coal Producers Association Board of Directors. Scott is the executive vice president for western operations at Ramaco Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

William \u201cDale\u201d Amburgey \u201994<\/strong>, Port Orange, Florida, represented Transylvania at the inauguration of Albert Mosley as the eighth president of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach on April 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannan Stamper \u201994<\/strong>, Lexington, was promoted to deputy general counsel for finance, athletics and Beyond Blue at the University of Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colby Blair \u201995<\/strong>, Lexington, is the new director of operations at McBrayer PLLC, underscoring the firm\u2019s continued commitment to enhancing client service delivery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Mark Medley \u201996<\/strong>, Lucerne, Switzerland, was promoted to senior director of research and development at the Sazerac Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greg Shenton \u201997<\/strong>, Smyrna, Georgia, completed his third year as varsity distance coach in cross-country and track and field at The Walker School in Marietta, Georgia. When Greg joined the program in 2024, the track and field team had fewer than five varsity distance runners, and cross-country only had a boys team. This year, the varsity cross-country team finished 14th at the state meet in the girls division and 15th at the state meet in the boys race. This spring, the track and field team broke eight school records and enjoyed its most successful season in school history with two top-five, four top-eight and seven top-12 finishes in the private school division at the state track and field meet held at the University of Georgia. Greg also maintains his law practice with Shenton Law P.C.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2000s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Laura Rice \u201900<\/strong>, Louisville, Kentucky, has been recognized as one of the top 10 Real Estate Agents in Louisville and has earned a place in the top 1% of America\u2019s Top 100 Real Estate Agents \u2014 an honor that reflects her unwavering dedication, expertise and passion for helping clients achieve their real estate goals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicholas Holland \u201901<\/strong>, Paducah, Kentucky, was selected as the new managing partner of Whitlow, Roberts, Houston and Straub. Nicholas has been a valued member of the firm since 2012 and quickly rose to partner in 2014. With a distinguished background that includes a J.D. from Duke University School of Law and prior experience at a top Washington, D.C., firm, Nicholas brings deep knowledge in business, real estate and commercial litigation. He has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts across complex matters and is active in the legal and local arts community, having served as president of the Yeiser Art Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah Stewart Holland \u201903<\/strong>, Paducah, Kentucky, co-host of globally known \u201cPantsuit Politics\u201d podcast, has added \u201cbookshop owner\u201d to her resume. She recently opened Meander Bookshop inside Piper\u2019s Tea & Coffee in Paducah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Sekhon \u201903<\/strong>, Lexington, published a book, \u201cAssumptions<\/a>,\u201d a Victorian psychological thriller. It\u2019s written as an authentic homage to the late Victorian and early Edwardian novella and is a carefully crafted exploration of power, reputation, morality and the fragile nature of identity within elite Victorian society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sara Thornton \u201905<\/strong>, Lexington, helped spread holiday spirit at Lexington Middle School by hosting its fifth annual Santa Shoppe this past December. Eighth graders got to come by her classroom and choose three gifts for their loved ones. Teachers wrapped the gifts while students enjoyed hot cocoa and watched Christmas movies. Sara described how rewarding the event felt for her and fellow teachers, saying, \u201cIt makes you feel good inside because you can see the joy and excitement on their faces that they\u2019re now able to give.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Langdon Ryan Worley \u201907<\/strong>, Lexington, was appointed by Gov. Andy Beshear as a special justice to the Supreme Court of Kentucky to hear and decide the case of Eifler v. Greenamyer. She is a litigation attorney at Hicks & Funfsinn PLLC, treasurer of the Fayette County Bar Foundation, past president of the Fayette County Women Lawyers Association and a member of the High Street YMCA Advisory Board, Fayette County Bar Foundation Executive Board and Kentucky Justice Association Board of Governors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francesca Pribble Kingery \u201908<\/strong>, Louisville, Kentucky, assistant professor in the University of Louisville’s Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, was named Norton Healthcare Physician of the Year by the Greater Louisville Medical Society. Francesca was honored during the 2025 Doctors’ Ball Awards in January. A biopsychology major at Transy, she earned her medical doctorate at the University of Louisville in 2016 and went on to complete her residency and fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, affiliated with Columbia and Cornell. She has been back in Louisville since 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2010s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ellie Oldham Michael \u201912<\/strong>, Nashville, Tennessee, was promoted to chief operating officer at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. Ellie joined Ascension in 2016 and has served in several leadership roles, most recently as vice president of operational excellence. Ellie is known as a collaborative and data-driven leader. She has advanced key operational initiatives and strengthened support for clinical teams across the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nika Larian \u201913<\/strong>, Lexington, was named vice president of wellness for Appalachian Regional Healthcare. In this role, Nika will provide executive leadership for ARH\u2019s new lifestyle medicine, nutrition and preventive health initiatives, with a focus on systemwide coordination and evidence-based care models. She will also oversee the development and management of ARH\u2019s new Lifestyle Medicine Service Line, supporting the integration of nutrition, behavioral change and preventive care across ambulatory, community and acute-care settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex Yaden \u201913<\/strong>, Gainesville, Georgia, is in his fifth year as director of bands at Little Mill Middle School in Forsyth County, and was recognized as Little Mill\u2019s Teacher of the Year. In addition, Alex and his wife Anna Carmichael welcomed their first child. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyle Smith \u201914<\/strong>, Cincinnati, signed with Major League Soccer team FC Cincinnati for its 2026 season with an option through June 2027. He spent the previous seven seasons with Orlando City. Kyle is \u201cincredibly grateful and excited to join FC Cincinnati,\u201d and is \u201cready to do whatever the team needs to help win games and push for championships.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skyler Slone \u201915<\/strong>, Cupertino, California, started his new job in December as Apple\u2019s executive assistant for worldwide events and experiences. Skyler worked at Apple in Lexington for the past four years training customer support staff. Before Apple, he worked for Disney World (in Tokyo and Orlando). A theater and philosophy, politics and economics double major at Transy, Skyler earned a Master of Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design in creative business leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Cooper \u201919<\/strong>, Birmingham, Alabama, was named the 2026-27 Med-Peds Chief Resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Mooney \u201919<\/strong>, Bowling Green, Kentucky, was hired for a tenure-track position as the electronic resources librarian at Western Kentucky University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2020s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gavin Root \u201921<\/strong>, Danville, Kentucky, was named the permanent head coach of Centre men\u2019s basketball by Centre College Athletics. He was elevated to interim head coach in September 2025, following the retirement of former head coach Greg Mason. Gavin also served as acting head coach during the final 10 games of 2024-25 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lita Spielmann Addison \u201923<\/strong>, Winchester, Kentucky, is the head paralegal at a law firm working with collections and foreclosure. She is also a notary public for the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linley Dawson \u201924<\/strong>, Lexington, was honored with the LEXY Rookie of the Year Award earlier this year at the American Advertising Federation Lexington Advertising Awards, which recognize a young professional under the age of 25 who has made an immediate and impressive impact early in their career. In June 2025, she was promoted from junior marketing account manager to marketing account manager at BRAINBOX Intelligent Marketing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kennedy Kniffley \u201925<\/strong>, Louisville, Kentucky, a summa cum laude Transy grad with a B.A. in writing, rhetoric, and communication with a minor in creative writing, is currently in graduate school at Emerson College working on her master’s in popular fiction and publishing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luke Patton \u201926<\/strong>, Lexington, signed with the professional Lexington Legends baseball team. He finished his collegiate pitching career this spring after a standout senior season for the Pioneers. Patton appeared in 23 games, going 5-1 with five saves and a 2.13 ERA across 38 innings. He limited opposing hitters to a .167 batting average and struck out 37. Luke also recently completed the ROTC program at Transylvania. He will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army this fall as an aviator. He was also recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate and finished at the top of his class at Mountain Warfare School.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
