For Lyra Duffy \u201927, Writing for and with Nonprofits wasn\u2019t just another class on her schedule \u2014 it was a deep dive into the heart of Lexington. \u201cThis class was challenging, but amazing,\u201d she says. \u201cNobody in that class just checked a box \u2014 we all pushed our limits and stepped out of our comfort zones in a way where we felt supported.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now in its 10th year, the course \u2014 co-created and taught by professors Kerri Hauman and  Scott Whiddon \u2014 continues to bridge the gap between campus and community. It\u2019s a course where students don\u2019t just write for gradebooks \u2014 they write for Lexington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
