In April 2013, Transylvania University received a Bronze star from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education through their Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS). This framework provides a comprehensive methodology for evaluating sustainability in the context of higher education. STARS considers sustainability in the areas of academics, engagement, operations, and planning and administration. Transylvania is updating its STARS assessment in 2015.
