Congratulations to Exhibition Participants and Recognized Artists

The Morlan Gallery, Fine Arts Program, and the Dean of the University collectively congratulate all 24 students who were juried into the 2014 Student Exhibition. We would like to recognize the ten students who earned Juried Student Art prizes and awards on the May 2 opening and awards ceremony.

Amanda Stoddard won the honored 2014
Nana Lampton Prize.

In all, fourteen awards and prizes were given. There were four Honorable Mentions, with each recipient receiving a $50 prize. There were five Excellence in Media Prizes, worth $100 each, and awarded to students who produced exceptionally strong work in the areas digital media, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and drawing/printmaking. The Fine Arts Program selected two pieces to become part of the Fine Arts Program permanent collection and displayed in the Mitchell Fine Arts Center. And Dean Michael Bell personally awarded the prestigious Dean's Purchase Award to two pieces that will be added to the University's permanent collection of artwork.

Senior Amanda Stoddard received the coveted Nana Lampton Prize. Named in honor of the Louisville artist and business woman, the Prize was awarded to Stoddard by the Fine Arts faculty in recognition of her outstanding creative vision, strong work ethic, and natural leadership.

Here are the 12 artworks listed with the prize or award they received. Congratulations to ALL 24 students who participated into this perennial favorite.
