Multiplicities: The Work of Lynne Avadenka

Sept. 14 – Oct 30

Lynne Avadenka is an American artist/printmaker creating multimedia work informed by explorations of text and image. She is compelled to consider the philosophical and physical presence of the book – as a repository of memory and loss, as a vehicle for transmitting transcendent information, and as a singular object binding a multiplicity of ideas. Her work bridges past and present, creates dialogues between and across cultures, and champions women’s roles throughout history.

Avadenka uses the printing press, as an indispensable art-making instrument: traditionally as a text-making tool and experimentally as an image‑making machine, often creating art using tools and materials intended and designed for other uses.
