Transylvania professor helps bring Spanish writers to Kentucky Foreign Language Conference

The Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Spanish Embassy in Washington, D.C., collaborated with Transylvania and Davidson College to bring three Spanish writers to Lexington to participate in the 62nd annual Kentucky Foreign Language Conference in April.

Essayist and journalist Pedro Garcia Trapiello, journalist Susana Martin Gardia, and poet/artist Juan Carlos Mestre spoke on the steps of Old Morrison and later conducted a roundtable discussion at the University Kentucky’s Gaines Center.

Spanish professor Veronica Dean-Thacker (below, welcoming speakers and guests), along with professors from Davidson and Asbury College, organized the sessions, and Transylvania received a generous gift from alumna Katie C. Bolin ’49 to help sponsor the event.
