Dear Supporters of the Transylvania Softball Program,

In 2017, a generous donation by John and Donna Hall enabled us to completely renovate the softball field on campus. This renovation allowed the complex to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the team, including batting cages, bullpens, a sophisticated drainage system and dugouts. The viewing experience was also improved with an expanded seating area, a new sound system and a beautiful Daktronics scoreboard.

Phase 2 of the John and Donna Hall Stadium project involves the complete renovation of the locker rooms, which will provide a top-of-the-line home locker room for the Pioneers, including a players’ lounge. Sherry Holley ’88, a Board of Trustees member and Pioneer Hall of Famer, has generously provided the funding for the naming rights, which will be in honor of her parents, Ronald and Frances Holley.

This donation is a huge start to the project! With the majority of funds in place, we are close to the finish line. We now need others to follow Sherry’s lead to finish Phase 2.

The original facility was completed in 1996 and renovated in 2017 to comply with NCAA guidelines. The facility was sodded with a Kentucky bluegrass mix from a sand-based sod. The infield dirt is a mixture of 60 percent sand, 20 percent silt and 20 percent clay brought in from Georgia. The field and its bullpens feature water irrigation systems. This modern, state-of-the-art complex allows our Pioneer student-athletes to have a home that rivals any in the country.
