Reporting

If there is any immediate danger on campus, call the University’s Department of Public Safety at (859)233-8118, and/or 911( Lexington Metro Police 859-258-3600). Additionally, if an individual would like to file a criminal complaint they can contact Lexington Metro Police. The Transylvania University Department of Public Safety as well as the Title IX Coordinator can also assist an individual with filing a criminal complaint. 

Officials with Authority have been vested with the authority of the University President to address and correct harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation. The following are official OWA’s at Transylvania University.

In addition to the above listed individuals, Transylvania University has designated the following as Mandated Reporters; all cabinet members (with the exception of the VP of Diversity and Inclusion), department supervisors, department faculty chairs, coaches [academic and athletic], Housing and Residence Life staff [including Area Coordinators and Resident Advisors], and all staff who work for the Department of Public Safety. These individuals are employee of Transylvania University who are obligated by policy to share knowledge, notice, and/or reports of harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation with the Title IX Coordinator.

Internal reports can be made in a number of ways; in writing, by email, in person, or online

Parties reporting sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and/or stalking should be aware that under the Clery Act, Transylvania University must issue timely warnings for incidents reported to them that pose a serious or continuing threat of bodily harm or danger to members of the campus community. 

Transylvania University will ensure that names and other identifying information is not disclosed, while still providing enough information for community members to make safety decisions in light of the potential danger.
