Nondiscrimination Statement
Transylvania University is committed to providing an educational and employment environment that is free from discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics and prohibits retaliation against an individual engaged in a protected activity.
It is the policy of Transylvania University not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin (including ancestry), ethnicity, immigration or citizenship status, age, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression), disability (physical or mental), genetic characteristics, veteran or military status, or any other protected category under applicable local, state, or federal law in all University programs and activities.
This policy is in compliance with the provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, and all other applicable federal, state and local statutes, ordinances and regulations.
Any member of the Transylvania University community who believes they have experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation on the basis of that person’s actual or perceived membership in a protected class or activity may bring their concerns to the Office of Title IX. Transylvania University has developed internal policies and procedures that provide a prompt, fair, and impartial resolution of said allegations.
