For me, teaching is about creating situations students can learn from. It isn’t necessarily about telling them what they’re going to learn or telling them after what it is that they have learned, but to create a situation where they can learn through experiences, through making art, through seeing art and just being in the world.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

About Kurt Gohde\u2019s Work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Art professor Kurt Gohde’s<\/a> works can be seen around town, from galleries to the side of a building<\/a>. He has an MFA from Syracuse University and a BFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Gohde, who started teaching at Transylvania in 1998, specializes in installation, video, sculpture, photography and digital imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen students take a class with me, I hope what they get out of it is to understand problem solving and understand that there’s value to, first, figuring out what a problem is and then, secondarily, figuring out how to address that problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
