My philosophy is to teach the whole person. That is the student as an intellectual being, as a moral being, as an imaginative being, as a social being. Teaching isn’t just about conveying information. It’s awakening in students the passion for thinking.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

About Peter Fosl\u2019s Work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Peter Fosl<\/a>, who joined Transylvania\u2019s faculty in 1998, is a professor of philosophy and director of the philosophy, politics and economics program. He earned a Ph.D. and M.A. from Emory University and a bachelor’s from Bucknell University \u2014 and his areas of specialization include David Hume, skepticism and early modern philosophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the most important things about Transylvania is that we help the students to find their own way, their own paths. We’re not interested in making duplicates of ourselves. We’re interested in finding their interests and aspirations and building on those as we guide them through the world of academia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
