First-Time Student Application

A first-time college student is any student who has not been enrolled at a college or university. Students who have taken college-level or dual-credit courses while in high school are considered first-time students.

We are delighted in your interest in Transylvania University.  We have a committed staff of admission counselors who can help you through the application process.

The process to apply for full-time admissions begins with an application.

We will also need the following from you to complete the application process:

  • High School Transcript
  • SAT or ACT score, if you elect to submit them (See note below about test optional)
  • Letter of Recommendation from School Administrator (Guidance Counselor, Teacher, Principal, etc)
  • Essay

Upon receiving an email generated by the Common Application, your guidance counselor can follow the link to the Common Application website where there are instructions for uploading the information; or your guidance counselor can mail your transcript directly to the Transylvania Office of Admissions.

Official ACT and/or SAT scores

When you take the standardized test, please remember to send your scores to Transylvania.
Our codes are: ACT – 1550, SAT – 1808

Transylvania University considers both the ACT, old SAT or redesigned SAT for admission and scholarship consideration. For the old SAT, we will only consider scores on the Critical Reading and Math sections.

For the redesigned SAT, we only consider the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math sections. Score reports can be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from ACT and/or SAT. Scores appearing on official high school transcripts will also be accepted.

Test Optional

Transylvania has adopted a test-optional policy for the admissions and scholarship process. This policy allow applicants to decide for themselves whether or not their test results accurately reflect their academic ability and potential.  You can choose whether or not to submit your ACT or SAT test scores as a part of your application. Find out how to apply without submitting your scores.

School Administrator Recommendation

Your school administrator (guidance counselor, teacher, principal, etc.) can submit a recommendation on your behalf via the Common Application system.
