Whether you’re returning to Transylvania to finish your degree or taking a few classes for personal or professional growth, we’re excited to welcome you. This page explains how to apply for readmission or non-degree enrollment and what to expect during the process.
Readmission — Returning to Transy
If you previously attended Transylvania University and want to return after a withdrawal or extended absence, you’ll need to apply for readmission through the Office of the Registrar. Readmission isn’t automatic — each application is reviewed carefully based on academic readiness, prior standing and available space.
Readmission Deadlines
- Fall Term: July 1
- Winter Term: Nov. 1
- May Term: Not ordinarily granted
Required Materials
- Readmission Application: Complete the online Application for Readmission.
- Official Transcripts: Submit transcripts for any academic work completed while away from Transy.
- Statement of Good Standing: Provide documentation from all institutions attended since leaving Transy.
- Health Clearance (if applicable): If you withdrew for medical reasons, include documentation from your healthcare provider confirming readiness to return.
All materials can be uploaded electronically through the application portal.
Note: Readmission decisions consider the conditions under which you withdrew, your time away and your academic progress.
Apply by July 1 (Fall) or Nov. 1 (Winter) to secure your spot.
Non-Degree Enrollment — Taking Classes Without a Degree
If you’d like to take one or more classes at Transylvania without pursuing a degree, apply as a non-degree student. This is a great option for visiting students, professionals seeking development or individuals preparing for graduate study.
Eligibility
You may apply for non-degree enrollment if you:
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
- Are in good standing at your most recent institution
- Want to enroll in courses for personal, professional or academic enrichment
Application Process
- Complete the Non-Degree Application.
- Submit Official Transcripts: Provide proof of your most recent academic record.
- Meet with the Registrar: Some courses require prerequisites or departmental approval.
- Register for Classes: Once approved, you’ll receive registration instructions from the Registrar’s Office.
Non-degree students are subject to the same academic policies and expectations as degree-seeking students.
Financial Information
Readmitted and non-degree students are billed per course and are not eligible for federal or state financial aid. Some private scholarships or employer-sponsored tuition benefits may apply.
