At Transylvania University, Spell finds particular joy in watching young musicians bring established works of art to life and collaborating with them and his colleagues on new creative projects. He values the inclusive nature of Transylvania\u2019s music program, where all students \u2014 regardless of major \u2014 are encouraged to participate fully in performances, ensembles and learning opportunities. Spell is especially passionate about integrating research into his teaching, particularly in the area of conducting pedagogy. His work applies Laban Movement Analysis to the physical and expressive aspects of conducting, helping students develop more intentional and effective gestures.
