STEM Scholars: Expectations


At the end of each year, STEM scholars will be evaluated for their continuing eligibility. To remain eligible, you must:

  • Remain a full-time student in good academic standing at Transylvania.

  • Declare a major in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematicsneuroscience, or physics, or some other self-designed major in a science field, such as environmental science.

  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.8 or higher.

  • Earn grades of C+ or better in science and math courses.

  • Maintain financial aid eligibility.

  • Actively participate in the STEM Scholars Program by attending weekly meetings or workshops and other enrichment activities as often as possible.

  • Communicate regularly with a designated faculty mentor.
