3.A Develop action plans for addressing opportunities with BIPOC students, staff and faculty to address and eradicate structural disadvantages and systemic racism, including:

  1. Developing a post-baccalaureate achievement program based on the TRIO Ronald McNair Scholars model to increase Ph.D. attainment for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  2. Reviewing university policies and processes including recruitment and retention efforts to identify and address implicit bias.
  3. Completing inventory of historic markers, artwork and related items and assess appropriate placement or removal.
  4. Completing campus audit of providing a welcoming and supportive environment for  students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors and determining action steps to address issues identified.
  5. Ensuring faculty have opportunities for professional development concerning inclusive and transparent pedagogies.

i. Completed draft of Inclusive Excellence program.

ii. Implemented enhanced diversity and bias training for search committees; utilized training with faculty and vice presidential searches.

iii. Monuments Committee established and nearing completion of inventory of historic markers, artwork and named spaces; Board of Trustees approved revised naming policies.

iv. Working with the Liberal Arts Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance (LACRELA) to begin a series of activities and initiatives commencing January 2022.

v. Provided on-campus training for 27 faculty during winter 2021. Submitted proposals for Center for Teaching and Learning and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Instructor/Teaching Scholar program to the Bingham Board for evaluation.

vi. Completed updated recruiting and hiring practices and procedures.

3.B Undertake an updated study to determine specific strategies on pricing and related policies including, but not limited to, four-year level tuition plans for each incoming class. complete
  • A pricing study was completed, though the response rate was low. 
  • Evaluating research, path forward in light of national trend towards increasing discount rates.
3.C Enhance and promote existing premier scholarships along models such as the Morehead-Cain program.

  • Expanding candidate pools.
  • Enhancing academic year and summer experiences for scholarship holders.
  • Increasing marketing of program.
