Transylvania University is taking advantage of these pleasant fall days to get its future Campus Center enclosed so work can continue on the interior when winter weather arrives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheduled to open next fall, the $29.6 million facility will bridge the residential and academic sides of campus with spaces for dining, fitness, student services, community outreach and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The structural steel is mostly in place; metal framing is underway; and much of the concrete flooring has been poured. Upcoming work will include starting on the roof and lower-level masonry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the new construction, the project will include renovations to the existing William T. Young Campus Center. Crews have demolished the wooden gym floor and installed some structural columns there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania also is finalizing its security and technology needs for the building and working with consultants on things like furniture and landscaping, which will focus on native plantings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
