On Thursday, Sept. 19, Transylvania University students will get a taste of all the opportunities they have to see the world as they study, research and work abroad to expand their horizons and gain valuable experience as global citizens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Study Abroad Fair in Alumni Plaza will bring a variety of representatives from study abroad opportunities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Global education programs<\/li>
  • Fulbright adviser<\/li>
  • May term travel course faculty<\/li>
  • Leaders of Alternative Winter Break in Guatemala<\/li>
  • Peer ambassadors<\/li>
  • Students who have previously studied abroad<\/li>
  • Faculty of the Transy in Ireland program<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThe Study Abroad Fair is an exciting event for our\nstudents,\u201d said Courtney Smith, director of Global and Intercultural\nEngagement. \u201cThis will be the largest and most inclusive fair to happen on\nTransy\u2019s campus. We\u2019re excited and look forward to the continued expansion of\nglobal and intercultural engagement on Transy\u2019s campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to the program representatives, students will be\nable to meet with staff of the Office of Financial Aid to learn more about\ntheir options to pay for their travel. Last year, Transylvania launched its\nGlobal Transy initiative, which has dozens of partnerships around the world\nthat allow students to do semester study at no additional cost to their normal\nTransy tuition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Nearly half of all Transylvania students study or research\nabroad at some point during their four years, whether it\u2019s for a full semester,\na summer or during May term. For many, it\u2019s a life-changing experience that\nbroadens their understanding of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Senior Emily Neat studied at the Florence University of the\nArts in Italy as a junior. She is currently applying for a Fulbright English\nTeaching Assistantship to teach abroad \u2014 Transy has had 20 students earn\nFulbright ETAs since 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
