Dr. John N. Williams \u201974 began serving as interim president<\/a> of Transylvania University on Thursday, Aug. 15. He shared the following message with the Transylvania community:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On my first day in the position of interim president,\nI am delighted to introduce myself. My wife, Lucy Sims Williams \u201974, and I are\nexcited to be back in Lexington to serve our beloved alma mater this coming\nyear. Transylvania is a special place, as we both have had several family\nmembers as graduates since the 1940s extending to the early 2000s. We were both\nactively involved on campus as students and intend to embrace the many facets\nof Transylvania life this coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are settling into our new home and finding\nmany impressive and inspiring changes within the greater Lexington community. We\nlook forward to meeting alumni, faculty and staff colleagues as well as our\nreturning and new students. I see on my schedule there are many first-year\norientation events which we look forward to attending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a year of transition as Transy will\nsearch for new presidential leadership. I invite all members of the\nTransylvania community to be actively involved in this important process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I welcome your thoughts and suggestions to\nmake Transy an even more vibrant academic community in the years ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
