Arriving at the home of Cole Rucker \u201985 in Malibu, California, Dr. Lora Bofill \u201994 was excited to find so many alumni in attendance. \u201cI had no idea how many Transy grads were in the area,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe think that because Transy is small, it\u2019s hard to find alumni\nin a place like Los Angeles. But we\u2019re everywhere\u2014all over the world. It\u2019s kind\nof nice to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ease of connecting with other grads revived her memories of\nlife on campus. \u201cWe have a unique shared experience,\u201d she says of her exchanges\nwith alumni, \u201cwhether we\u2019re from the Class of 1954 or the Class of 2018, we\nhave that common ground.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McRae\nStephenson \u201997, who joined Transy\u2019s advancement team in January, agrees. \u201cYou\ndon\u2019t have the awkwardness of getting to know new people \u2013 even if you didn\u2019t\nknow them before. You can pick up the conversation seemingly where you left\noff. You have that commonality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephenson,\na voice performance major at Transy who attended law school at the University\nof Louisville, circled back to Transy after consulting in higher education and\nadvancement. \u201cIt has been so fun,\u201d she says of her return.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She and 30 others joined President Seamus Carey and Noreen Carey in the home of Cole Rucker. Stephenson is still talking about the experience–Rucker\u2019s warm welcome, kind generosity and commitment to Transylvania\u2014and the community that came together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo have folks step forward and go to these lengths,\u201d she says of Rucker\u2019s generosity, \u201cto open his gorgeous home and host a gathering specifically to benefit the university and our alumni, shows such loyalty and fondness for the university.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
