During a recent campus visit, Marcus Osborne \u201997 discussed how his broad-based liberal arts education at Transylvania helped prepare him for his role as Walmart’s vice president of health and wellness transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Osborne started at Walmart, he wasn\u2019t, as he described it, \u201ca health care person.\u201d He\u2019d worked a variety of jobs\u2014from the serving as a management consultant to a position in the White House. Now he\u2019s tasked with growing health care services for the world\u2019s largest company by revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t afraid of going into new areas and trying new things,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was the same way at Transy, where he majored in political science and minored in history\u2014but took a wide range of courses, from math to art to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He credits his alma mater with forcing him to expand his horizons. \u201cI think in a lot of ways Transylvania has made me prepared to basically take on any role. It doesn\u2019t matter what the industry is, and it doesn\u2019t matter who it\u2019s with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
