Through\nits neurorecording, Transylvania students can explore their scientific\ncuriosity about how our brains function and result in our conscious experience\nand behaviors. This complements what they learn in the classroom and makes them\nmore competitive for graduate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe EEG system should be particularly enticing to\nprospective students who would like to pursue a major in neuroscience and\nparticipate in research, all within a liberal arts environment,\u201d Jurs said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The equipment supports a variety of cross-campus\ncollaboration. Having an understanding of how the brain works, after all, can\ngive students insight into behaviors and experiences that tie into various\ndisciplines, such as neuroeconomics, music cognition and social neuroscience.\n\u201cGiven the collaborative nature of this campus, extending brain recordings into\nother fields has the potential to result in some pretty awesome projects,\u201d Jurs\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior neuroscience major Thomas Shellenberg said he is excited about the new system. \u201cThis opens up a huge opportunity for current and future students,\u201d he said, pointing out how the close academic relationships students develop with professors at Transy increase the opportunities to use high-tech equipment like the EEG system.
