Keeping with a longtime tradition of building community\nties, Blue Grass Community Foundation<\/a> (BGCF) is helping Transylvania bring Lexington\ntogether for this year\u2019s PumpkinMania<\/a>\non Oct. 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BGCF is the lead sponsor for the event, which will kick off\nat 6 p.m. with trick-or-treating, live music, food trucks and children\u2019s\nactivities. Hundreds of jack-o\u2019-lanterns will be lit at 7 p.m. on the steps of\nhistoric Old Morrison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 5,000 people participated in last year’s PumpkinMania.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLexingtonians love a good party, and over the past eight\nyears PumpkinMania has evolved into a signature family event for North\nLimestone\u2014an area of our city in which we have invested for many years,\u201d said\nLisa Adkins, BGCF president and CEO. \u201cWe are honored to partner with\nTransylvania to bring neighbors together from across the city for such a fun, engaging\nevening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating more generous, vibrant and engaged communities,\nafter all, is BGCF\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1967, the group is the state\u2019s oldest community\nfoundation. It helps donors create charitable funds that make a positive\ndifference across the Bluegrass and Appalachia Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through community foundations like BGCF, individuals,\nfamilies, businesses and organizations establish charitable funds, permanent\nendowments and scholarships to help meet community needs, such as education,\nurban development, human services, the arts, the environment, health care and\ndisaster relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery day, I am inspired by incredible stories of nonprofit\norganizations that are transforming lives in our community, and the generous\ndonors that lift them up,\u201d Adkins said. \u201cWe are dedicated to the idea that one\nperson can make a powerful impact, but we know we have the biggest impact when\nwe work together. At the Community Foundation, we believe in investing together\nfor our shared future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation is a public charity with more than 579\ncharitable funds supporting the causes of donors, who receive personalized\nservice to help maximize the benefits of giving. The group has more than $129.9\nmillion in charitable assets and has awarded more than $85.9 million in grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community foundations go well beyond supporting charitable\nactivities. They also identify current and emerging issues, channel resources\nto address local needs and help communities prepare for the future.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, BGCF has been a leader on projects such as the Legacy Trail<\/a> and an On the Table<\/a> event, which brought together more than 13,000 people around tables across central Kentucky to discuss their communities and ways to improve them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
