\"Transylvania<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

An aspiring young\ndirector rampages against the art created by his mother\u2019s generation. A young\nactress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned\nnovelist. And everyone discovers just how disappointing love, art, and growing\nup can be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania\u2019s theater season kicks off Nov. 1 with an irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov\u2019s The Seagull by playwright Aaron Posner.  In the play \u201cStupid F***ing Bird,\u201d Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, in search of the true meaning of it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production is also\nthe directorial debut at Transylvania for the new Lucille C. Little chair of\ntheatre and program director Tosha Fowler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is an exciting\ntime to be at Transy directing my first production for the theater program.\nOver half of our spunky cast and crew are first-years, so there are a lot of\nexciting ‘firsts’ happening,\u201d Fowler said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring an ensemble\nof writers, actors and those who choose to watch, the production incites\nthe audience to consider how art, love and revolution fuel the pursuit of\nhappiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a great\nopportunity for audiences to experience a joyous — and cheeky — evening of\ntheater with the latest, very talented generation of Transy Theater,\u201d Fowler\nsaid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the nature of\nthe play\u2019s title, the show is intended mature audiences only \u2013 it contains\nmature language and adult content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stupid\nF***ing Bird runs Nov. 1-10. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
