Author to discuss new work in conversation at Transylvania Oct. 18<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

James Mustich\u2019s newest book, \u201c1,000 Books to Read Before You\nDie: A Life-Changing List,\u201d took 14 years to complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a large book of 1,000 short essays on 1,000 titles that range from classics to literary fiction to memoir, biography, history, science, travel, cooking, kids\u2019 books\u2026 really a compendium for a reading life,\u201d Mustich recently told Tom Martin, host of WEKU\u2019s Eastern Standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mustich will visit Transylvania<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, Oct. 18, for a free, public conversation. The talk, which is part of Transy\u2019s\u00a0Creative Intelligence Series\u00a0and the\u00a0New Frontiers<\/a>\u00a0season, will be at 4:30 p.m. in Carrick Theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the things I\u2019m going to be talking about at\nTransylvania is that we learn how to have the most important conversation of\nall through reading and that conversation is the ongoing one we have with\nourselves,\u201d Mustich said.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor me, reading is a critical way for us to engage\nourselves and engage the world and to come back to the works in terms of our\nactive lives refreshed and a little more resourceful than we were before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
