<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nthe final week before this year\u2019s general election, Transylvania University\nwill serve as the site for a televised forum with mayoral candidates Ronnie\nBastin and Linda Gorton. The forum is hosted by the League of Women Voters of\nLexington, WKYT, the Lexington Herald-Leader, WLAP radio and Transy.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nforum will be Monday, Oct. 29 from 6-7 p.m. in Carrick Theater. It will air live on The\nCW Lexington and will be live streamed on WKYT.com<\/a>\u00a0 and\u00a0Kentucky.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill\nBryant, WKYT anchor and political editor, will moderate the forum, which is free\nand open to the public. Doors will open at 5\np.m. and close at 5:45 p.m. Seating is\navailable on a first-come, first-served basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no substitute for seeing the candidates side-by-side and face-to-face as a way to compare their stands and styles of leadership,\u201d said Bryant. \u201cOur forum just a week before the election will give voters a chance to finalize their decisions about who will lead Lexington into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTransylvania has been an integral part of our\ncommunity and its civic discussion since Lexington was founded,\u201d said Megan\nMoloney, vice president for marketing and communication. \u201cWe believe it\u2019s\nimportant to foster the exchange of ideas from the candidates who seek to guide\nLexington for the next four years and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to be partnering with our\nco-sponsors to bring information to the citizens of Lexington about our 2018\nmayoral candidates,\u201d said League of Women Voters President Tammy Fagley.\u00a0 \u201cPart of the mission of the League is to help\neducate voters about the candidates. We hope all eligible voters will exercise\ntheir right to vote in November.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
