<\/p>\n\n\n\n

College students are invited to join Transylvania University\nand the Burren\nCollege of Art<\/a> for a new, three-week summer program that will\nimmerse them in Ireland\u2019s rich tradition of art and literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania in Ireland<\/a> includes courses taught by the university\u2019s faculty along with local and regional experts in folklore, writing, music and dance. Based at Burren in County Clare, the program will also offer excursions to Galway, the Aran Islands, Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher and Dublin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course runs from May 31 to June 22, 2019. The deadline\nto apply is Nov. 26, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The experience of traveling and studying overseas is\nan important part of a liberal arts education and something we want to offer\nour students through our partnership with the Burren College of Art,\u201d\nTransylvania President Seamus Carey said. “The Transylvania in Ireland\nprogram is a unique opportunity to share in a culturally rich and engaging\nacademic experience, open to not only our students but also those from other\nuniversities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courses offered will include Introduction to Drawing, which\nwill find inspiration in the Irish people and landscapes. Other classes are Space,\nPlace, and the Irish Literary Imagination; and Special Topics in Studio Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in the Transylvania in Ireland program will earn up to two units of credit (eight semester hours). Also included are accommodations, local transportation, medical and travel insurance and two large group meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Transylvania in Ireland program represents an exciting\nnew study-abroad opportunity for the university,\u201d said Jack Girard, professor\nand program director. \u201cStudents will experience complete immersion in the Irish\nculture while pursuing coursework in art and literature and traveling to a\nvariety of distinctive sites that will offer a romantically rich texture and\ncultural depth to this spirited adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through promoting study\nabroad<\/a>, Transylvania enables students to learn in unfamiliar\nsettings among people with different backgrounds, helping them better\nunderstand themselves and the wider world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Burren\nCollege of Art <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burren\nCollege of Art<\/a><\/strong> is a small, independent art school on the northwest coast of\nCounty Clare in Ireland. It is located in the Burren, a region famous for its\nnatural beauty and unique ecosystem. The college is an internationally\nrecognized Irish non-profit institution specializing in undergraduate,\npostgraduate and alternative approaches to fine art education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
