Transylvania University plays a significant role in driving economic growth in Lexington and across the commonwealth according to a new study. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly released Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities Economic Impact Study<\/a> reveals that Kentucky\u2019s 18 independent, nonprofit colleges and universities, including Transylvania, contribute a combined $2.06 billion to the state and local economies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn addition to providing widespread access to higher education and helping develop Kentucky\u2019s skilled workforce, AIKCU\u2019s member colleges and universities are anchor institutions in communities throughout the commonwealth,\u201d said AIKCU President Mason Dyer. \u201cThese numbers reinforce our long-held belief that the investment in state aid for students attending independent colleges and universities represent one of the best rates of return on investment for the commonwealth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania, a member of AIKCU, is a key contributor to this economic engine generating $66.3 million in total economic impact<\/a>, while benefiting local businesses, creating jobs and attracting talent to the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond its direct economic contributions, Transylvania plays a crucial role in developing Kentucky\u2019s workforce, preparing graduates for success in a variety of fields and equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the 21st-century economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Transylvania graduates are ready to lead,\u201d said President Brien Lewis. \u201cWe empower them with the critical thinking, collaborative spirit and clear communication skills they need to excel in today’s economy and shape tomorrow’s world.
