Transylvania University has put out a call for members of the school community to express their creativity and make some money at the Dec. 6 Makers Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sign up here<\/a> by Nov. 22 for a booth to sell your arts, crafts and other creations at the third annual event, which is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. in the Campus Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are excited to bring back the Makers Market this December at Transy,” said Kaelyn Query Caldwell, acting director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. “This is a unique opportunity for faculty, staff and students to showcase their talents and sell their wares \u2014 while helping to further grow their small businesses. We invite all of you to sign up for booth space, and we hope those who aren’t selling will come shop and support.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The center, which is presenting the Makers Market in partnership with Transylvania’s Morlan Gallery, is helping students of any major get hands-on experience while learning how to operate a successful business. It\u2019s located in the newly renovated Sanders-Siebers Entrepreneurship Hub<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those interested in participating are encouraged to attend a Makers Market 101 lunch and learn Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Campus Center Pioneer Room A. They’ll get to ask questions, learn how to prepare for making sales and enjoy a free lunch. RSVP to rquery@transy.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students have found success as vendors at previous shows, gaining confidence to pursue their passions at other venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, Nicole Herman \u201925 was inspired to turn her art into a business. \u201cI never thought I could sell my art to strangers, but it\u2019s such a good opportunity to have people look at your work and say, \u2018Hey, I like this.\u2019 Even if they don\u2019t buy it, the validation is just so valuable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
