Four years ago, we learned just how helpful technology can be in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe McClure realized the importance of online training for his officers as soon as he was appointed chief of Transylvania University’s Department of Public Safety back in April 2020. As the world went online, he secured funding to implement the Lexipol PoliceOne Academy platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only did DPS decide to keep with the digital training after social distancing became a thing of the past, but the department was awarded \u2014 two years in a row \u2014 with Excellence in Online Training Management recognitions for their achievements with the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McClure noted how each year, every officer takes 30-40 hours of PoliceOne instruction in addition to 40 hours of in-person training, which includes life-saving skills and other courses to hone their law enforcement expertise in partnership with agencies like the FBI and Lexington Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, all supervisors attend the FBI-LEEDA leadership Trilogy Series<\/a>. Transylvania DPS \u2014 which is Kentucky\u2019s only sworn law enforcement agency at a liberal arts college \u2014 also has a large number of certified instructors within its ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their commitment to exploring new ways to stay at the top of their game is evident in the recognitions from Lexipol<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“PoliceOne Academy\u2019s learning management system streamlines the training experience for police departments,” according to the platform, which features “1,500 online courses and videos, training workflows and skills development tracking.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
