Photo booths and a reception greeted the nominees for the 2024 Broadway Awards. Winners were selected from 230 submissions in 30 categories. Organized and presented by the Campus and Community Engagement team, awards were presented in four overall categories \u2014 intramurals, esports, fraternity and sorority life and leadership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations were shared with a review committee of staff and faculty, including Olivia Fleming, Kurt Ghode, Laura Scroggins, Graham Thomason and Rachel Wilson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Five awards were presented in the intramurals category: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intramural Athlete of the Year<\/strong> – Amanda Kanatzar <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The intramural athlete of the year is awarded to the participant who is active in the most sports\/activities and displays a positive attitude. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Scarlett Hohman, Mere Johnson, Emily Long, Jenna Welch, Camden Wilson<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intramurals Most Improved Athlete<\/strong> – Emily Long<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The intramural most improved athlete of the year is awarded to the participant who has shown the most improvement throughout their season and showcases good sportsmanship and a positive attitude. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Sophia del Val, Oli Gonzalez, Emma Leming, Abigail McDougal, Sophia Sparks, Emery Weathers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intramurals Team of the year<\/strong> – Phi Mu\/The NBMus <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Intramurals Team of the Year  is the team that encourages and demonstrates participation in intramural sports. They are cooperative and exhibit good sportsmanship toward all. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: the Dunking Deltas, Hoops I Did it Again and Phi Tau A Team<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intramurals Supporter of the Year <\/strong>– Grace Ransdell<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Intramurals Supporters of the Year goes to the person\/persons that consistently cheers on others at intramural events. They show up and show out, while being respectful. They may or may not play on a team. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Tanya Barbee, Grace Gardner, Ava Kopp <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coordinators Award for Most Creative Team Name<\/strong> – Notorious D.I.G.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Two awards were presented in the esportss category: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esports Most Improved Player of the Year<\/strong> – Madalyn Stump <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most improved Esports player of the year is awarded to the participant who has shown the most improvement throughout their season and showcases good sportsmanship and a positive attitude.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esports Player of the Year<\/strong> – Zen Santos<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Esports player of the year is awarded to the player who is active in the most teams and displays a positive attitude. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fraternity and sorority life awards included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interfraternity Council Spirit<\/strong> – Jack Thomas, Delta Sigma Phi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Interfraternity Council spirit award goes to a member of the IFC community who supports all events and initiatives regardless of chapter affiliation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interfraternity Council Service<\/strong> – Sean Gannon, Delta Sigma Phi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Interfraternity Council Service award goes to a member of the IFC community who gives back to the overall community through volunteer and philanthropic efforts.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interfraternity Council Scholar <\/strong>– Owen Schmidt, Delta Sigma Phi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Interfraternity Council Scholar award goes to a member of the IFC community who is committed to academic excellence and encourages involvement of their peers to do the same. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Cole Bennett, Jack Dodds, Graham Thomason, Cole Wright and Pi Kappa Alpha<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fraternity Member of the Year<\/strong> – Will Fries, Kappa Alpha Order<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fraternity Member of the year is the embodiment of what a fraternity member should be. They are a role model, a mentor and a friend to all. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Matthew Marcum, Stephen Root and Jack Thomas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panhellenic Council Spirit<\/strong> – Charlotte Green, Chi Omega<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Panhellenic Council spirit award goes to a member of the Panhellenic community who supports all events and initiatives regardless of chapter affiliation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panhellenic Council Service award goes to a member of the Panhellenic community who gives back to the overall community through volunteer and philanthropic efforts.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panhellenic Council Scholar <\/strong>– Kiera Draffen, Chi Omega<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Sorority Member of the Year is the embodiment of what a sorority member should be. They are a role model, a mentor and a friend to all. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student leaders and organizations were recognized in the final group of awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rising Leader Award <\/strong>– Chris Bryant and Kailey Koger<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This Rising Leader award is given to someone who demonstrates emerging leadership traits such as attending leadership workshops and sessions, takes on additional responsibilities and does them well, and encourages their peers to get involved. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated:  Morgan Carpenter, Alex Carroll, Matthew Clevenger, Gwyneth Cunningham, Quincy Elliott, Audrey Gass, Allie Hinchman, Kennedy Kniffley, Harmony Kothari, Abigail McDougal, Alexandria O\u2019Conner, Emma Swallows, Catie Taylor, Vivian Terry <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsung Hero Award <\/strong>– Alex Perry<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Unsung Hero category goes to the person who doesn’t hold a formal leadership role but is in a variety of activities and should receive recognition for the behind the scenes work that they do.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Emi Blair, Libby Bringard <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commitment to Justice Award <\/strong>– Morgan Hardigree<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Commitment to Justice Award goes to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to justice and or has been an activist, trying to create positive change for the campus or community.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Meredith Cooper, Fallon Cross<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outstanding Achievement Award <\/strong>– Katherine Foster and Shelby Hamm<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Outstanding Achievement award is designed to recognize an outstanding member for all of their hard work to one or more student organizations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Harrison Carlson Bratton, Jiali Graham, Josie Grant,  Morgan Hardigree, Makayla Jordan, Kinley Lewis, Charmi Rosenberg, Casi Smallwood, Megan Studer, Catie Taylor, Katy Walsh<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Engagement Award<\/strong> – Paige Catron and Charmi Rosenberg<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Student Engagement Award recognizes an outstanding student who has advanced the mission of their student organization while challenging and encouraging the membership to advance new initiatives, develop new skills, and prepare their group for leadership transition and ongoing success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Collaboration Award <\/strong>– Student Activities Board and Latino Student Alliance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Collaboration Award goes to a group that has worked together to sponsor or host an event or program that has benefited the campus community.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Delta Sigma Phi (Various Events), Delta Sigma Phi (Sigatoni\u2019s), Interfaith Alliance and Muslim Student Association, Phi Mu and Chi Omega, Phi Mu and Delta Sigma Phi <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event of the Year<\/strong> – Muslim Student Association Iftar<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Event of the Year is an award that recognizes an event that significantly enhanced the social, recreational, or cultural life of students and the general community at Transy. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Asian Student Alliance\u2019s Diwali, Phi Mu\u2019s Cupcake Wars, Res Life\u2019s Drag Show, SAB\u2019s Brinner, SGA\u2019s DEI House Bill 9 Forum, Transy Dance Marathon, Tri Delta\u2019s Fall Harvest Carnival, TUnity\u2019s Queer Prom <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philanthropy Event of the Year <\/strong>– Chi Omega\u2019s Campus Sing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Philanthropy event of the year recognizes the organization that has held a successful philanthropy event that benefited local or national philanthropy. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nomincated: Chi Omega (Various Events), Chi Omega\u2019s Wings for Wishes, Delta Sigma Phi and Kappa Alpha\u2019s Chili Cook-Off, Delta Sigma Phi\u2019s Sigatoni\u2019s, Phi Mu\u2019s Cupcake Wars, Tri Delta\u2019s Tri Hop, Tri Delta (Various Events) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outstanding Education Award <\/strong>– The Igesia Society<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Outstanding Education award is for the best and most effective educational program.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Allie Lewis, Latino Student Alliance, TUnity Phonathon <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership Development Award <\/strong>– Pre-Health Club<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Membership Development award is for a  club or organization that serves the needs of their members through speakers, workshops, retreats, conferences, and other acts to educate its members.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Impact Award <\/strong>– Delta Sigma Phi and Student Activities Board<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Community Impact Award goes to the group contributing time, support, or money locally to better the Fayette County community.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Chi Omega, Transylvania Advocates for Accessibility<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Group\/Organization of the Year <\/strong>– Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The New Group\/Organization of the year is an award that recognizes a club that has put forth the effort to enhance the Transy community and has maintained strong and consistent operations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Pre Law and Policy Society, Pre PA Club<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outstanding Organizations of the Year <\/strong>– Asian Student Alliance, Conservation Action Committee, The Rambler, TUnity <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Outstanding Organizations of the year award recognizes up to four organziations that have exemplified outstanding achievements and organizational development among their peer organizations. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Black Student Alliance, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Sigma Phi, Muslim Student Alliance, Phi Mu, Pre Health Club, Student Activities Board, Student Government Association, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advisor of the Year<\/strong> – Kara Best, Delta Delta Delta<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Advisor of the Year must have a strong role within the group and have helped the students learn through their involvement. The nominee should demonstrate dedication, availability, and energy in their involvement with their students.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaders in Action<\/strong> – Black Student Alliance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Leaders in Action award recognizes a club or organization that has placed a strong emphasis on leadership development and campus involvement. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also nominated: Delta Delta Delta, Phi Mu, Student Activities Board and The Rambler<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spirit of Transylvania<\/strong> – Phi Mu<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This award is presented to an organization that has made a significant effort to further its purpose through its contribution to Transy and the Lexington community. The Spirit of Transylvania Award embodies the Transy spirit through its commitment to leadership development, collaboration among groups, and programmatic efforts. The student organization of the year is considered a role model for other organizations on our campus. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
