Winter isn’t just for hibernating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transylvania University encourages students to venture out to the Campus Center on Wednesday for Second Engagements: A Night of Connection and Celebration<\/a>. They’ll learn about campus organizations and resources that will help them get the most out of winter term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, which is from 5-7 p.m., includes both a fair for students to explore what the school\u2019s organizations have to offer and a showcase where groups host a variety of activities \u2014 from PowerPoint presentations on their missions to a pico de gallo-making workshop hosted by the Latino Student Alliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pioneers will also learn about academic resources and chat with staff from various offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corinne O’Bryan, assistant director of student success, said the event fosters a sense of belonging for students. “Second Engagements is an opportunity for them to take a second look and potentially discover an organization they hadn’t had the chance to yet,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other activities include Jackbox video games, crafts and dining in the Raf with board games and puzzles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’ve opened up some other spaces just to encourage students to hang out, talk to each other and connect with their campus community,” O’Bryan added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
